2022 Prize
Main Prize: Karol Radziszewski
Special Prize: Karolina Grzywnowicz
This year's Main Prize, awarded during Warsaw Gallery Weekend, goes to Karol Radziszewski for his exhibition Myths organized by BWA Warszawa.
A continuation of his monumental series The Gallery of Portrait, Radziszewski’s new body of work convinced the jury in terms of both research as well as the artistic qualities of his work. Taking into account the ambivalent biography of his protagonists, the artist continuously questions the historical portrait genre and further develops his critical inquiry into queer historiography, memory, national identity, and dominant modes of representation – says the jury's verdict.
Special Prize was awarded to Karolina Grzywnowicz, presented by Jednostka gallery
The jury acknowledges her engagement and devotion to an ongoing project. Her work reveals an active change of a landscape as an instrument of power used either to oppress people or to rewrite history. We find her practice an original and important tool of microresistance.
The winners were selected by an international jury composed of: Fanny Hauser (curator, Ludwig Forum Aachen), Osman Djajadisastra (contemporary art curator), Hanna Wróblewska (President of the Society for The Encouragenebt of Fine Arts), Kamila Bondar and Anna Golka (members of the Board of the ING Polish Art Foundation).
