Podgląd Gallery #8 and a special screening of Agata Ingarden's films
Join us on February 15 for the eighth instalment of the Podgląd (Eng. Sneak-Peak) Gallery. Exceptionally, for the first week, the show will be accompanied by the artist's films “The House” screened on Ekran (Eng. Screen) in the Union Square building.
Agata Ingarden, untitled, 2018, painted metal, oysters shell, caramel, 150 × 80 × 43 cm
The sculpture on display of the Podgląd, from the Foundation's collection, is a kind of hourglass in which the passage of time is measured by black charred sugar dripping into vessels made of oyster shells. The sticky caramel-like substance behaves differently depending on the light, temperature, and humidity. As it drips, it measures time, reminding us of the changes taking place around us. In Agata Ingarden's works, the trace of man and the inventions of civilization is palpable, but the people themselves remain absent. The viewer becomes a witness to how immobile creations of technology come to life under the influence of natural processes.
The sculpture was created in 2018 for the artist's exhibition “DOM (The House)” at the Piktogram Gallery in Warsaw. The work was accompanied by films - static shots of objects in an abandoned mansion on the seashore - which will be on display again, this time at the ING Polish Art Foundation Ekran.
More about the artist and work from the collection - on our website. Videos of “The House” by Agata Ingarden were presented on Ekran thanks to the courtesy of the artist and Piktogram gallery.
The Podgląd Gallery is located in the shop window of the Plac Unii City Shopping (on the side of Waryńskiego Street) and is available 24/7. We present their works from the Foundation's collection and projects. Ekran is available during the opening hours of the Plac Unii City Shopping .
