Following this year’s edition of the Warsaw Gallery Weekend, the Foundation’s collection was enriched by The Smiths by Mikołaj Sobczak. The Foundation recognised an artist presenting his works at the Warsaw Gallery Weekend for the third time by purchasing his work for its collection.

The artist translates performance, social relations, everyday life and other facets into the field of art. All tropes have been interconnected in an attempt to relate to the contemporary world. In view of the above, the jury decided to make ‘The Smiths’, a painting by Mikołaj Sobczak, part of the ING Polish Art Foundation’s collection, read the jury’s conclusion.

The jury presented the Szara Gallery in Katowice with a Special Recognition Award.

This year, the jury decided to honour an institution unafraid of change with the Special Recognition Award – a gallery which remains true to artists and the public alike while testing venues, formats, and premises; a gallery whose professionalism is counterbalanced by equally valuable enthusiasm; a gallery with an ever-promising programme.
