Artist: The Professional – Summer School

These are the participants in the first edition of Artist: The Professional - Summer School, to be held during the Konteksty. Postartistic Congress in Sokołowsko.

The Summer School is a new element of our project Artist: The Professional. The first edition of the Summer School will take a unique form, as the participants will attend the Konteksty. Postartistic Congress in Sokołowsko. It will be an opportunity for “learning through practice” so important in artistic education. Instead of training in the laboratory, the participants will become part of one of the most important annual artistic events in Poland. The mentors of our group will be Ewa Tatar and Agnieszka Tarasiuk—curators and theorists taking an active part in the Konteksty agenda.

Participants in the Summer School:

Agnieszka Antkowiak

Kadidia Ba

Alicja Czyczel

Maria Magdalena Kozłowska

Mila Nowacka

Karolina Pawelczyk

Maria Plucińska

Weronika Zalewska

The participants in the Summer School were selected from persons taking part in Artist: The Professional portfolio consultations. Based on recommendations from our lecturers, the selection was made by the curatorial team of Konteksty, Sebastian Cichocki and Marianna Dobkowska, who explained their choices as follows: “The persons invited to participate in Konteksty were those whose artistic practice is taking a leap toward the future, signalling the need for greater engagement, cooperation, and thought beyond the conventions of contemporary art. Their artistic practice conveys the spirit of this year’s edition of Konteksty, an event seeking a new format responding to the challenges facing the inhabitants of our warming planet”.
