Klatka by Rafał Zajko is a ceramic relief built around a play on meanings between a stairwell and a ribcage. The work brings architecture and anatomy together, blurring the boundary between building and body, shelter and confinement. It also functions as a performative object: a small opening allows a performer to incorporate their own body into the structure of the sculpture. Through this gesture, the work is temporarily activated and becomes a space for habitation.
Klatka was awarded The ING Polish Art Foundation Prize at Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2026 and subsequently added to the Foundation’s collection. The work originates from Foreign Body, an exhibition created in collaboration with Thom Trojanowski at Coulisse Gallery.
