Drawings form a separate field in Alicja Bielawska’s oeuvre. While frequently created in relation to spatial forms, by no means are they the underlying sketches. They occasionally accompany the process of preparing the next project in the pipeline, to ultimately become its summary. As in the case of installations, vivid colours are essential here. Some patterns resemble the ornamental borders drawn by children. Bielawska uses coloured self-adhesive paper, crayons, and drawing carton, all items associated with childhood.
