Marta Niedbał

born 1986, Częstochowa

Visual artist, designer, curator. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and LCC University of the Arts in London. She is interested in soft skills of resistance that challenge dualisms and dichotomies and engage the body in its relationship to affect, emotionality and sexuality. The artist opens a narrative space for the periphery and emphasizes the role of tenderness in discussing various forms of solidarity, empathy and "being in it together." Lives and works in Krakow

Paweł Olszczyński

born 1985, Krakow

Graduate of the graphic design department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Hochshule fur Gestaltung, Offenbach am Main. In 2010-2012 he co-founded the New Roman gallery and collective in Krakow. Scholarship holder of the Mayor of Krakow (2011) and of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2016). Works mailny in drawing, also creates paintings and ceramic objects. Lives and works in Warsaw.

The work, created in collaboration of two artists, levels the boundaries of authorship and individual egos. The textile was not created simultaneously, but by each artist individually in the privacy of his own studio, traveling several times between Krakow and Warsaw. "Dissolving" also dissolves the boundaries of artistic media, placing itself on the borderline between artistic textiles, painting and installation. The artists did not want to subdue the softness of the fabric with painting frames - hence their decision to use a frame custom-made by Bartek Buczek from two tables from the 1960s. The work was created for the Hold Me Closer exhibition at the HOS gallery during Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2023 and was awarded the ING Polish Art Foundation Prize.
