Honza Zamojski
b. 1981, Poznań
Creator of drawings, paintings, installations and artbooks; curator and publisher. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. Emulating a mad scientist, he experiments with elements of the artistic circuit: catalogues and covers. He also employs the field research method: his journey to the Czech Republic yielded a fictitious album guidebook titled Jak jsem potkal d’ábla. Fascinated with typography and publishing form capacities, he has reached for the world of books as editor, designer, and publisher of the self-established Morava publishing house. Nominated for the Polityka Passport Award in 2011. He lives and works in Poznań.

To Honza Zamojski, works on paper are akin to a notebook, allowing swift and risky moves. The monotype on the cover of a book by Patricia Highsmith is the result of such dynamic yet laconic action. As the artist explains, “I enjoy the monotype: a simple technique, yet one tending to slip out of control. I am fond of the organic quality of black printing ink, which offers the qualities of resin and tar alike, deeply penetrating the structure of paper. In addition, it has none of the features of paint, no half-tones, no spectrum, making it my creative medium of choice.”
