The black surface of the tarmac emerges from under snow. The viewer can almost hear the sound of splashing mud, the monotonous drone of the engine, and smell the frosty air. The Road is a painterly illustration of a fragment of simple, everyday reality. The world of Tatarczyk’s paintings and drawings is pared-down, built using elements abstracted from nature: trees, country roads, and water. The colour palette is reduced, the number of elements limited, and yet they make for a visually pleasing, highly dynamic composition. The artist made sure that his work reflected reality without any unnecessary embellishment.
