The motif of fighting and aggression frequently recurs in the pictures of Karolina Jabłońska. In her compositional solutions, deformation enhances the expression and dynamics of the depictions. The victims are most often shown as under attack by a tangle of hands, roots of trees appearing from nowhere, or gigantic worms. The artist herself says that fierce emotions are a pretext for creating a picture. The seriousness of the topic clashes with the colours chosen – intense yellows, a whitish magenta, and warm greys. The painter’s palette plays with our colour associations – it gives us the impression that the girls are less fighting than horsing around.
