Since the beginning of her career, Agnieszka Brzeżańska has been creating paintings, photographs, collages, video works, installations, and ephemeral actions. During her studies at the University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokio she also started working with traditional craft techniques, especially ceramics. Since then she has created multiple series of vases, candleholders, dishes, flowerpots and other objects, playing with the material and experimenting with Japanese glazing techniques. The work from out collection was inspired by the form of Lusatian vases of the Bronze Age and it’s a part of the cycle "Family Land”. Bare breasts decorating the vase are an expression of the artists’ interest in the subjects of feminine powers, archetypes, vital energy and fertility. When exhibited in the galleries, Brzeżańska’s ceramic pieces usually fulfill their primary function – they are filled with flowers or candles.
