Konrad SmoleńskiBORN 1977, Kalisz
Konrad Smoleński - born in Kalisz in 1977. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań in 2003, in the studio of professor Izabella Gustowska. Assistant at the atelier of Audiosfera led by Leszek Knaflewski at his Alma Mater until 2008. Smoleński is a member of the artistic group Penerstwo. Animator of the group PINKPUNK, from which all his musical works derive from. Co-creator of the following music groups: Kristen, KOT, Mama, Sixa, BNNT.
Music and sound are among the leading topics of his works, as well as the artist’s main tool. Creator on the border of performance and alternative music, designer of instruments such as the guitar in the shape of a bomb, which he also plays. Author of video clips, which may also function as fully fledged video works (e.g. "Leję z ciebie" to Czykita’s song, 2003). Constructor of installations made of musical equipment, e.g. loudspeakers (“There’s no god”) and microphones (“The end of Radio”). Although the artist uses specific techniques in his works, they are very complex and ambiguous. He often relates to the dark side of human nature and the unpredictable consequence of experiments, mainly associated with threat.
