  • Common Project - a contest for young artists

Common Project is a yearly contest organised by the Museum of Art in Łódź and the ING Polish Art Foundation. It’s main goal is to support artists under the age of 30.
Common Project emphasises not only the end-result (an exhibition, publication, etc.), but most importantly the sole execution of the project in close cooperation with both institutes. The theme of the first year edition is the “Urban prototype” - understood as an idea, project or tool referring to relations occurring within urban space - perhaps even generating unobvious solutions. The work can be designed in any form, from installation, performance activities, research, audio and film. The winner will be able to finalize his project in Łódź, with the full support of the staff, tools and the infrastructure of the Museum of Art in Łódź and the ING Polish Art Foundation.
The contest is open to individuals and groups working as one team. Entries, entitled „Wspólny projekt” should be sent to: wspolny_projekt@msl.org.pl by January 18th, 2013.

  • Radek Szlaga's "Nafajdały" and "Angel/Pig" in "Freedom Club"

Freedom Club is the most comprehensive institutional presentation of Radek Szlaga’s works to-date. In the centre of the exhibition, the artist placed a map of the cosmos and the portraits of his parents - and thus creates an image of the world into which he fits his own genealogy. This cosmogonic gesture suggests that the creation of such an exposition is the construction of his own private model of the universe. However even if it is so, then Szlaga’s universe represents reality, whose forces of entropy and the crisis are pushing towards original chaos.
